Dr. Reid B. Grigg

Senior Engineer Group Head


Reid Grigg heads the Gas Flooding Processes and Flow Heterogeneities Group at the PRRC and is an Adjunct Professor in the Petroleum and Chemical Engineering Department at New Mexico Tech. His research interests are:

 

⦁ Enhanced oil recovery (EOR), carbon sequestration, and gas hydrates.

⦁ Phase behavior of pressurized geological formation fluids, fluid properties and flow behavior of high-pressure liquids and gases, and high-pressure/high-temperature/high-flow rate gas flooding process in porous media.

⦁ Gas injection for improved oil recovery and greenhouse gas sequestration, reservoir fluid phase behavior, and flow behavior of multi-phase systems; their effects on flow in porous media; and improving and understanding mechanisms for improved mobility control.

⦁ Emphasizing laboratory tests augmented with field test and modeling.

 

The group's research is focused on improving and understanding mechanisms for improved mobility control in oil reservoirs and carbon sequestration storage. Before joining PRRC in 1992, Grigg worked for Conoco for over 10 years as a research scientist and chemist, and he spent a year with Core Laboratories before joining the PRRC. He obtained his PhD in physical chemistry from Brigham Young University and has authored over 100 publications. He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, the American Chemical Society, and Sigma Xi.

Robert Czarnota

Post Doctorate Research Engineer

 

Robert Czarnota is a Post-Doc Research Engineer with the Gas Flooding Processes and Flow Heterogeneities Group. His research domain encompasses various aspects of petroleum engineering ranging from Enhanced Oil Recovery methods to CO2 sequestration. He obtained his PhD, Ms and BSc in Petroleum Engineering from AGH University of Science and Technology in Poland.

Titus Ispirescu

Research Scientist

 

Titus Ispirescu is a Research Scientist with the Gas Flooding Processes and Flow Heterogeneities Group. His role is in project development, laboratory supervision, and PRRC-related field work. He holds the BS in Earth Physics and Seismology and the MS in Physics from the University of Bucharest, Romania.

Sai Wang

Researcher Engineer II

 

Dr. Sai Wang is a Research Engineer II with the Reservoir Evaluation and Advanced Computational Technologies (REACT) group and the Gas Flooding Processes and Flow Heterogeneities group at the Petroleum Recovery Research Center. He is the principle Investigator (PI) and Co-PIs on several US DOE-sponsored projects, including the assessment on the regional resources on basalt and mining waste for CO2 mineralization, Utah CarbonSAFE II project, Fault Characterization project and the CUSP Escalante project, and also involved in the San Juan Basin CarbonSAFE III focus on the field operation and Class VI permit application. His areas of interest and expertise include regulation/permit, CO2 enhanced oil recovery (EOR) and geological storage (CCS), petrophysics, surface chemistry and geochemistry. Dr. Wang has published over 30 papers mostly in the areas of enhanced oil recovery and CO2 geological storage. He holds the BS in Applied Chemistry in Hainan University, China, the MS in Petroleum Engineering from New Mexico Tech, and a PhD in Petroleum Engineering from the University of North Dakota.
